Welcome back, gym fam!

We made it! With the Governor’s orders permitting gym to reopen, we unlocked our doors on June 5 for the first time in nearly three months. There’s nothing better than seeing your smiling faces walk through the door and hearing your laughter (or cussing during heavy lifts). We’ve missed our members and are so happy to say: welcome back, gym fam!

Thank you for your support

Everyone felt the hardships of the stay-at-home orders in different ways, but no one was left unaffected. We know that many lost their jobs or had to close their doors forever. Truly, we’re grateful to still be in business.

The entire Virtus Barbell staff extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who stuck with us while we were closed. As a standalone community-based gym, it’s because of you that we made it through the difficult quarantined months. Air high-fives and virtual hugs to all of you!

New Name, Same Dedication

A few things changed since before stay-at-home orders that we want to share with you. While closed during quarantine, we used the opportunity to spiff up the gym. And she got a new name. We gave her a fresh coat of paint and rebranded to better describe what we do.

Now as Virtus Barbell, we offer more fitness opportunities for nearly every age and level of ability. From fitness freshmen to strongmen, preschoolers to seniors, we have something for everyone. Take a look at our programs page to learn more.

When you come in, your favorite equipment might not live where it used to. Don’t freak out. Or we might freak out back at you. We moved equipment to maintain appropriate social distancing in between workout areas. As much as possible, we plan to hold group and private workout sessions outdoors whenever possible, which doubles as a great way to enjoy the warm weather.

Safety Measures

Our top concern remains the health and well-being of all of our members and visitors. Seriously, Virtus Barbell exists solely to help you get to your peak physical condition! We want to create a positive workout environment where you can get after your gains safely.

Virtus always had the highest standards of cleanliness throughout the facility. With the global pandemic, this has never been more important. We take the advisories very seriously and strictly follow all CDC and state health department guidelines. To adhere to their recommendation, we’ve started new cleaning and safety measures throughout the building.

For example, we’ve stepped our deep cleaning sessions, cleaning the flooring, and sanitizing the equipment every night. You’ll find hand sanitizer bottles on basically every flat surface throughout the gym. For your protection and ours, we ask that you use the disinfectant spray before and after using any equipment. We also have alcohol spray specifically for cleaning the bars.

We removed all yoga mats, wrist wraps, and other difficult-to-sanitize items from communal use. Anyone wanting to use items like these should plan to bring their own from home. We know; it sucks to have to remember more stuff.

Health official recommendations shift on the daily. So, we’ll continue to update our safety measures and alert members to any new rules as they come.

Seriously, we love you guys. And we’ve appreciated your patience and respect as we all get used to the “new normal.” To make sure we can STAY OPEN, we have to stay diligent with our cleaning practices. But we need you to do your part, too.

If you have traveled to a “hot spot” of positive cases, stay away from the gym for a bit. If you don’t feel well, STAY HOME and get better. We promise you won’t lose gains by taking a short break until you’re well again. But if you come in and give other gym members COVID, we won’t ever let you come back!

Now, who’s ready to tackle their fitness goals with our intelligent training?
